On The Jazz Research Table


Three fine books by Preston Lauterbach plus Tad Richards’ excellent book on the research table today.

Jazz has always been an amalgamation of styles and the influences described in these works were involved with the evolution of hardbop, soul jazz and some forms of show or lounge jazz that came into existence in the 1950s and 60s.

There is no one kind of Jazz.

Jazz is a process and, throughout its history, the ingredients that go into making it have always come from a variety of sources.
