We are pleased to announce the launch of a bursary scheme to attend the JPN conference in Belfast this November.Â
Taking place at The MAC, in Belfast’s vibrant Cathedral Quarter on Thursday 3 and Friday 4 November, the conference will bring the UK and Irish jazz sector together to focus on the most important issues and topics in jazz right now. Inspired by the Sun Ra composition of the same name, ‘Where Pathways Meet’ will have a firm focus on the future of jazz in these islands and beyond. The programme will also provide ideas and practical advice that delegates will be able to apply in their own work.Â
We are offering individual bursaries for up to 10 people each from Wales and Scotland, and up to 5 people each from Northern Ireland/Ireland and England. This bursary will cover the conference fee, travel (up to £120) and one night’s accommodation, and provide opportunities to network and learn with the jazz community across the UK and Ireland.Â
We are looking to support those individuals who are artists, promoters and producers who haven’t previously engaged with JPN, and for whom this opportunity will make a real difference to their professional development.Â
In additional to the event sessions aimed at all delegates, bursary delegates will also be invited to attend:Â
Tune In:Â An hour-long session specifically aimed at ensuring new attendees get the most out of attending a conference style event
Speed mentoring:Â The chance for bursary delegates to have up to 7 mins to ask questions or pitch their project directly to six mentors
The deadline for the scheme is 9am on Friday 30 September, and decisions will be made by Friday 7 October. Applications will be assessed by a specialist panel from each country.

This bursary scheme has been made possible with support from Arts Council Wales, Creative Scotland and JPN reserves.
